Safe use of insulin

Safe Management of Hypoglycaemia e-learning module

Following on from the success of the Safe Use of Insulin e-learning module, NHS Diabetes will be producing an e-learning module of the Safe Management of Hypoglycaemia. This is the third in a suite of four e-learning modules, this e-learning module will be available free of charge to healthcare professionals in the UK. 

The module is designed to improve healthcare professional’s knowledge and confidence in the safe and effective management of hypoglycaemia. The aim of the module is to improve patient safety by reducing the number of patients who experience hypogylcaemia, wherever the person with diabetes is at the time.

The training focuses on the key elements of managing hypos:

  • What is a hypo?
  • Signs and symptoms
  • Treatment of hypos
  • How to avoid hypo
  • Driving and hypos

The module is due to be made available in Spring 2012.
