Intravenous Insulin Infusion e-learning module
The second in a suite of four e-learning modules, this e-learning module is available free of charge and is aimed at healthcare professionals who provide care for adults on an intravenous insulin infusions.
The module is designed to improve healthcare professional’s knowledge and confidence in the safe and effective use of an insulin infusions. The aim of the module is to improve patient safety by reducing the number of patients who experience medication errors and/or poorly controlled blood sugar levels while on an insulin infusion, both of which are potentially life threatening.
The training focuses on the key elements of insulin infusions:
- Prescribing
- Preparing
- Administering
- Monitoring
- Dose adjusting
- Stopping
