Your views needed: consultation on draft mandate to NHS Commissioning Board

This week, new objectives for the improvement of health and healthcare have been set out for public consultation in a draft mandate to the NHS Commissioning Board.

Under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, the Government must set objectives for the Board in a formal “mandate”, which must be updated every year, following consultation. The consultation will run until 26 September 2012. Please take time to review the Government’s proposals for future improvement of NHS services in the mandate and submit your views.

This mandate aims to:

  • Set care objectives and ensure that patients continue to receive high quality care that is effective, safe and provides a positive patient experience.
  • Make sure that there is clear accountability and a transparent way to tell whether the Board is getting results.
  • Set out a clear expectation for continual improvement across the health service.

Find out more about the consultation and download the draft mandate from the Department of Health website.
