NHS Diabetes is delighted to launch the much-anticipated new Safe Use of Non-Insulin Therapies (SUNIT) e-learning module.   This free module urges healthcare professionals to:

  • Always tailor glycaemic targets to the individual.
  • Check specific manufacturers guidance when using therapies in people with diabetes and chronic kidney disease.
  • Always consider the risk of hypoglycaemia when using specific medicines in the elderly.
  • Check the NICE guidance CG 87 when considering which medication to prescribe.

Helen Wilkinson, NHS Diabetes Programme Manager for Safety, said: "This course is an exciting new module packed full of essential information for healthcare professionals who are involved with service users relying on non-insulin therapies.

"I am thrilled with the development of this course and hope this will be as helpful as our previous two e-learning modules."  safe use of non-insulin therapies e-learning module card
