Specification
This is the document produced to describe the services that the commissioner wishes to procure from provider organisations. It will be in a number of parts or subparts relevant to each provider organisation from which services will be procured. It will summarise the commissioners intentions based on the outcomes of the previous steps, and identify where each type of provider fits in; including the volume and quality of the various components they are expected to deliver. This will include the generic principles which apply to every part of the service Diabetes Without Walls (PDF 1.8MB), and the quality standards, governance arrangements, monitoring tools and indicators, relevant to the each part of the service. This is supported by a set of commissioning guides, each of which contains a clear intervention map of what services should be provided, outcome-based service specifications, contracting framework. Also available throughout the website are examples of health economics, protocols, templates, evaluation guidance and case studies relating the area of care being commissioned.
